Productive visit to Du Bois Center
Saturday, August 04 To the Editor of THE EAGLE: We went to the W.E.B. Du Bois Center in Great Barrington and visited Randy Weinstein . We learned: W.E.B. Du Bois was born and raised in Great Barrington. He wrote 87 books and publications. He loved to teach (like Randy!) He was the first African-American to graduate high school from Great Barrington. He was a famous civil rights activist. He loved Great Barrington. He buried his family behind the Du Bois center in the Mahaiwe cemetery.
He worked hard in school at being the best. He wanted everyone to be treated equally. He lived a long time ago in the olden days. Dirt with grass growing from W.E.B. Du Bois’s yard is at the center. He taught us that it doesn’t matter what color skin you have, what matters is in your heart.
Thank you Randy, for teaching us about W.E.B. Du Bois.
