Saturday, July 01 GREAT BARRINGTON — The Great Barrington Historical Society will launch its biweekly “Films That Matter” series at its new Visitors’ Center in the Du Bois center on South Main Street. Each film will be hosted by a noted film critic, a writer or someone associated with that particular film.

The series will kick off tomorrow with “Alice’s Restaurant,” starring Arlo Guthrie. Local musician Paul Kleinwald, who also appeared in the film, will be the host.

Other films will include “Our Daily Bread,” hosted by film critic Vincent LoBrutto; “Nothing but a Man,” hosted by critic Leonard Quart, and “Major Dundee,” hosted by writer Wesley Brown.

The films, according to Du Bois Center director Randy Weinstein , are intended “to entertain, educate and inspire” the local community. Admission is free; listings will appear in area papers.
